Insurance & Liability

Insurance & Liability: Who Holds What

Carer Market Australia is a platform that connects NDIS providers with independent support workers. We are not an insurer, and we don’t issue, hold, or manage insurance policies on behalf of anyone using the platform.

Insurance is arranged and held independently by the provider and by the support worker, according to what applies to their own situation.

For Independent Support Workers

Many independent support workers carry their own cover, such as public liability or professional indemnity insurance, as part of operating independently. This is arranged directly between the worker and their insurance provider: Carer Market Australia is not a party to that policy and doesn’t determine what it includes. If you’re a support worker and you’re not sure what cover you should have in place, that’s worth sorting out with an insurance provider or industry association before you start taking shifts. It protects you, not just the provider you’re working with.

For Providers

Before relying on a worker’s insurance for a particular shift, it’s worth confirming directly with the worker what cover they hold and whether it suits the work involved. This sits alongside your own existing compliance and risk obligations as a provider; Carer Market Australia doesn’t replace or manage that process for you. A quick conversation upfront is a lot easier than an unclear one after the fact.

Scope

What Carer Market Australia Does Not Do

To keep this section as clear as possible:

We do not issue or underwrite insurance policies.

We do not guarantee that any worker holds a specific level or type of cover.

We are not responsible for claims arising from a shift.

We do not provide legal, compliance, or insurance advice; this page is general information only, not a substitute for professional advice.

Using the platform doesn’t create any insurance relationship between Carer Market Australia and either party.

Why We’re Spelling This Out

It would be easy to write a vague paragraph that sounds reassuring and says very little. We’d rather you know exactly where things stand, because clarity now is better than confusion later, for both providers and workers. If you have questions about how this applies to your specific situation, speak with your own insurance provider or legal adviser. We’re always happy to explain how the platform itself works.
